Produced by Tandem Theatre and Dance/Hurley & Dancers, the second annual August Modern Dance Concert brings together professional dancers and choreographers in the Central Iowa area. Groups/choreographers include:

Group Bio's
DanzArts Studio Junior Company "Pantheon Project". The DanzArts Studio Junior Company Pantheon Project is a group of pre-professional dancers from the Des Moines DanzArts Studio. Directed by Paula McArthur, The Pantheon Project is dedicated to "a group of persons most highly regarded for contributions to a field or endeavor.” As a non-competition dance school, we are always looking to find artistic performance experiences for these pre-professional dancers. Co’Motion Dance Theater. Co'Motion Dance Theater was founded in 1978 with a bold mission – dance for everyone. For twenty years the company toured full-time from Maryland to Montana presenting concerts, lecture/demonstrations, school residencies, and master classes. Now concentrating on a home season, Co'Motion Dance Theater continues to engage minds and bodies with authentic movement in concert performances and outreach activities including Kids Co'Motion, Women in Motion, work with Des Moines Public Schools, Des Moines Performing Arts, and residencies in a three-state region. The company is known for eclectic work using interactive technologies and collaborations with new composers.
Fellow Travelers Performance Group. Cynthia Adams and Ken James have co-directed Fellow Travelers Performance Group for over 25 years. Based in San Francisco, they have toured and taught across the U.S., in Europe and Canada. Their work ranges from stage dances, installations, screen-dance, and site-specific work as a way to uncork the spaces between conscious thoughts. They have created over 70 pieces and received numerous grants, awards, and residencies. Their work explores the surreal effort of being human.
Hurley & Dancers. Founded in 2001, Hurley & Dancers is a professional modern dance company based in Des Moines that presents public performances, dance educational outreach, and encourages artistic collaboration. Comprised of professional dancers and educators from Central Iowa, the company brings together instructors from area universities, colleges and studios who are actively performing and choreographing in their field. The company has enjoyed performances in the Midwest and Canada.
